Broome Hut Trip
Venturing out to Berthoud Pass, the Backcountry Beauties embarked on an overnight trip to Broome Hut, part of the Colorado 10th Mountain Division Hut Association. After our January 20th, 2024 – Ladies Beginners Day, this adventure catered to more advanced skiers and snowboarders, and ended up offering seemingly limitless fresh powder turns in the Second Creek area of the Pass.
On day 1 we had an AM and PM crew, with the first group getting in an extra lap on the First Creek side of the mountain. In the afternoon, both groups joined and skinned up to the cabin together. Broome Hut gets 5 stars; home away from home! Some Beauties went for another run right after arrival and some decided on a (almost) full moon night lap.
Day 2 brought partly cloudy skies and more soft, deep snow. After getting in another lap down various lines, we all started heading back down in the early afternoon. After this, some continued on for another up n down First Creek and others capped off the day on Loveland Pass for a (true) full moon night skiing adventure. Another mission accomplished!
